What the Matrix of Destiny is and how it is calculated

Below is all the arithmetic the calculator above runs on. We do not hide it on purpose: the first thing people do with a matrix is check it somewhere else, and you should be able to see where every number comes from.

What the scheme is

The Matrix of Destiny is an eight-pointed star made of two overlaid squares. Its nodes hold numbers from 1 to 22, and each one reads as a Major Arcanum of the Tarot: there are exactly twenty-two Major Arcana, so the scheme can be laid out with a deck instead of staying a set of digits.

All it needs is a date of birth. No time, no city, no planetary tables — unlike a natal chart, this is pure arithmetic. That is why the calculation here is free: it costs us nothing either.

The three numbers everything grows from

A is the day of birth. B is the month. C is the year with its digits added up. Then D = A + B + C, and the centre of the scheme is E = A + B + C + D.

Anything above 22 is folded by adding the tens to the units: 44 → 4 + 4 = 8, 37 → 3 + 7 = 10. This is not the «digit sum down to one digit» of everyday numerology: reduce to a single digit and no arcanum above the ninth would ever appear, and the scheme would part ways with every other calculator.

The corners: the personal square and the family diamond

A, B, C and D form the personal square — what a person brought with them. The second square is turned by 45° and speaks of lineage and ages: F = A + B is childhood, G = B + C is youth, H = D + A is maturity, I = C + D is wisdom.

The centre E is the only point that gathers both squares at once. It is read first: it is about the core, not about circumstances.

The ladder of purposes

The Sky — the spiritual task — is B + D, the Earth — the material one — is A + C, and the personal purpose is Sky + Earth.

Then comes the lineage: the female line is G + H, the male line is F + I, and the social purpose is their sum. The common purpose is personal + social, the planetary one is social + common. Every step stands on the one before it, which is why the whole chain is visible — the table under the scheme prints the formula next to every point.

Chakras: seven rows and three columns

The chakra table is not separate esoterics — it is the same scheme read along its lines. Physics is the horizontal (the line of Earth, from A through the centre to C), energy is the vertical (the line of Sky, from B through the centre to D), and emotions in a row are physics plus energy.

The rows run top to bottom: Sahasrara (purpose), Ajna (goals), Vishuddha (the word), Anahata (relationships), Manipura (will and money), Svadhisthana (joy), Muladhara (body and ground). The total of a column is the sum of its seven values, folded down to 22 by the same rule.

Life periods

The perimeter of the star is a life from 0 to 80. A decade fits between two neighbouring points, and inside it there are eight steps, each with its own arcanum: the middle of the decade is the sum of the two neighbouring points, and the steps between them come from the same addition.

The steps alternate: a year, a year and a half, a year, a year and a half. A corner takes exactly the year AFTER the round date (30–31), while the year before it, 29–30, still belongs to the previous step. A detail that otherwise has you reading someone else's period: at 29.5 it is not the arcanum of the thirties at work, but the one that closes the twenties.

The matrix of a couple

A couple's scheme is not recalculated from the sum of two dates. Each person gets their own matrix, and then matching points are added up — not all of them, only the nine outer ones: A, B, C, D, the four corners of the rhombus and the centre. That is why those show a formula like «his number + her number» rather than «A + B + C».

Everything else — the inner rays, the lines of money and love, the purposes — is worked out for a couple with the usual formulas of the scheme, but from those nine points. Adding up the partners' finished numbers will not do here: reduction to 22 is non-linear, and the sum of reduced numbers is not the reduced sum.

What the matrix does not do

It does not predict events and it does not diagnose anything. The numbers describe what a person leans on and where they habitually stall — that is a language of description, not a timetable of a life. Anything the scheme says about health, money or family stays a reason to think, not grounds for a decision.
