Justice in the centre of the Matrix of Destiny

Mechanics. You are read as a pair of scales. People watch their words around you, because they feel they are being weighed. And you do weigh, almost automatically, breaking a situation down into who said what, who promised what and who in the end did it, and you state the conclusion so calmly and so to the point that it is awkward to argue with, even for the one it went against. People come to you to be judged between. Other people's conflicts find your phone by themselves. Lying to you is pointless, and everyone understands this quickly; those who tried anyway and were caught you cross out entirely, with no second attempt, and no explanations work afterwards, because for you the issue is not the deed but that the person turned out to be different.

Works when clarity and equal rules are needed: law, finance, audit, expert examination, any work with contracts and other people's money. You are trusted with sums and decisions, because you do not take extra, even when you certainly would not be caught. A reputation builds slowly and lasts long: ten years later, people you no longer work with keep recommending you to strangers, adding one phrase: this one will not cheat you.

Breaks when the measure is applied to living people without allowing for the living. A close person comes not for a verdict but for warmth, and gets an analysis: here is a mistake, here haste, and here your own fault too; the analysis is precise, there is nothing to argue with, and the person stops coming. The second failure is inward: you judge yourself harder than anyone and carry for years the guilt for a decision that in those circumstances was the only one.

What it looks like:

• In a quarrel you recall the exact date and wording of something said half a year ago, and the other person feels it not as being right but as a trial.
• Injustice in someone else's story upsets you more than the people involved.
• You cannot forgive someone who did not admit fault. Even years later.

What to do.

1. Before any analysis, ask: do you need my conclusion, or do you just want to tell it?
2. Separate the fact from the sentence. A fact can be discussed, a sentence can only be accepted.
3. Once a year, forgive yourself one old decision. Aloud, specifically, with the date.
