Strength in the centre of the Matrix of Destiny
Mechanics. Calm is what comes off you. Not loudness, not pressure: the quiet confidence of a person who is hard to rattle. In a scandal you lower your voice when everybody else raises theirs, and that is exactly why the room listens to you. You are called to talk to difficult people, defuse conflicts, tame the boss, explain to an elderly relative why money must not be transferred after a call from "the bank", and you explain for the third time without irritation. You have more patience than most. People feel that with you it is safe to make a mistake, and open up more than they meant to.
Works when long endurance and gentle persistence are needed: raising children, treatment, training, long negotiations, work with teenagers and animals. You win not by force but by not retreating and not shouting. A teenager who snaps at everyone is talking normally to you within a month, simply because no pressure or fear comes from you: you just come again and ask the same thing in a calm voice.
Breaks when patience turns into patience with everything. You hold on to what should have been dropped long ago: a job that does not pay, a relationship with shouting, the habit of keeping quiet about your own needs because "I'll manage". The second failure is visible only to those close to you: outward calm has a cellar, and in it anger collects that once a year comes out as an outburst so strong that you are ashamed for a week. At that moment people around see not what built up over the year but only the shout, and conclude that it was a breakdown from nowhere; explaining that there had been no calm ground since last autumn is no longer possible.
What it looks like:
- You pull a person out of a pit, spend two years on it, and they leave for someone who did nothing for them, and to your "why" answer that with you it was too calm and there was not enough passion.
- Colleagues pass you their most nervous clients. You will cope.
- You remember your own tiredness on holiday, when you fall ill from the very first day.
What to do.
- Every six months, check what exactly you are putting up with. Separately: what would change if you put up with it another year.
- Be angry out loud and on time, in small portions. Then there will be no outbursts.
- Let others cope on their own. Your endurance sometimes deprives them of theirs.
Takeaway: you are read as the one who will hold out; hold out for what matters, not for everything.
